San Daniele del Friuli

San Daniele is situated in the centre of Friuli and surrounded by morainic hills. This beautiful town has been nicknamed the "Siena del Friuli", partially because of the rolling hill country surrounding it, partially because its inhabitants are supposed to speak the best Friulan language and particularly because of its architectural beauty.

San Daniele has been free city since 1139: nowadays it is a well known gastronomic center and many tourists come here everyday in order to taste the famous dry-cured spiced ham on the spot of origin and to visit the town.
